Zelda The Links Awakening 8520

Description: Link's latest challenge is set on the mysterious Koholint, a place where dreams and reality collide. As a castaway, Link must find a way to escape from the island and return to his beloved homeland of Hyrule. This will not be an easy task. The island's inhabitants have no knowledge of the outside world. One creature, a talking owl, may know the solution to Link's dilemma. Link must first tackle eight dungeons full of treacherous monsters and tricky traps. His goal: find the eight instruments of the Sirens and awaken the omnipotent Wind Fish which rules the island.
"Piano and orchestral remake of the ending theme from The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past by me and Bogusred. Piano composition and playing by Bogusred (formerly titled Oh Joyous Hyrule). Orchestral accompaniment by me.

Well, other than that, there isn't much else to– HELLO ZELDA WORLD FORUMS! That's right, one of our affiliates, Zelda World, recently opened up their brand new super-awesome forums, and I must say, this is one of the first times I've been really excited for an internet forum, other than our own forum, but that goes without saying. So, if you want to bring your Zelda discussion to another website, I highly recommend heading over to www.zelda-world.net and clicking over to their forums to sign up.

Well, that's all there is to say on the matter. In words of closing, happy 25th, Zelda! Welcome to Ooooooold Man-hood!

Well, it's official. As of today, Zelda turns 25 years old. It's been a long 25 years, and a good 25 years, but most of all, it's been a time wasting 25 years (the best kind, mind you). For over 25 years, Zelda has been helping people like you and me squander away the hours of the day while exploring the darkest depths of dungeons, scaling the highest mountains, and all around exploring the land, like any green tunic'd adventurer should. Without this series, I doubt I'd be where I am today. I mean, this site wouldn't exist, so it stands to reason that I wouldn't be sitting here typing this message up, now does it? All jokes aside, however, let's sit and reminisce on all of our adventures in the beautiful land of Hyrule and its surrounding areas… Allow me to set the mood…

Capcom Announces Street Fighter IV: Volt for iOS At E3

It seems like only yesterday that Capcom‘s “little fighter that could,” was announced to be coming to the iOS platform.  Masses of gamers waited patiently to learn if Street Fighter IV was the portable combat experience that would prove the iPhone and iPod Touch to be viable for hardcore fans of the genre.  We were pleasantly surprised to learn that not only did the game perform admirably, but it set the standard for how virtual joysticks should be implemented.  Both far and wide, the game was praised for its high quality production values and emphasis on precision and detailed button interactions.  This was the beginning of a new age for the Street Fighter franchise, and the first in a series of evolutions to the game on iOS.

Though later on the game was updated to include several new characters, including the likes of  Cammy and E. Honda, there was always one piece of the puzzle that still seemed incomplete: multiplayer.  Sure, there was a clumsy Bluetooth multiplayer mode, but nothing that could leverage the power of GameCenter.  For this very reason, Capcom went back to the drawing board when it came to their netcode and are now proudly ready to unveil details about their next installment in the Street Fighter brand: Street Fighter IV: Volt.

The new game, which will unfortunately not be available as an update to the current Street Fighter title, will be the first of its kind to implement full GameCenter compatibility with friends lists, as well as a bevy of ranked matchmaking experiences.  Further sweetening the collective pot is the introduction of four new combatants to the arena: Vega, Cody, Balrog, and a mystery character.  Capcom’s representatives were coy when addressing questions about price point and launch window, only divulging that the game was aiming for a June or July launch.  As soon as we have more details, rest assured that they will be found here on 148Apps.

Capcom E3 Preview: Monster Petshop

Nowadays Capcom is on board the freemium bandwagon in a big way.  One such example of that is their upcoming title Monster Petshop.  Modeled as a hybrid of time management games and Tamagotchi animal raising simulators, the upcoming time sink looks to dip into your inner nurturer, while still forcing players to be ruthless business people.

Players are placed in the kitty litter covered shoes of a pet store owner, specializing in raising unique breeds of monsters.  These interactive creatures that you raise from an egg are you ticket to success, as long as you can avoid becoming too attached to the little buggers.  Any number of different processes that might be done with a traditional Tamagotchi pet are intimately necessary to the creature’s survival and ultimate well being, including such tasks as feeding, cleaning up after and even scratching them in their “special spot.”  Don’t worry, the person demoing the game for me admitted to feeling creepy after uttering the phrase.

Once your pet has reached some level of maturity it can either be bred with other creatures owned by your friends or sold for a profit.  The trick is keeping enough balance that these pixelated little beasts can be constantly reproducing and either building or replenishing your store’s stock, while still keeping the critters at peak happiness.  It is a juggling act to be sure, but if you manage to succeed, the imaginary financial windfall could prove to be rather lucrative.

As you become a bigger success as a store owner, abilities to add in new decorations to your shop and options for your breeds will open up, allowing for players to do what they love most in freemium games, customizing the ever-loving hell out of everything.  You can look forward to more details on the game hatching as the title’s June/July peak incubation window draws nearer.

2011 Fantasy Football Calculator & Draft Kit HD

By
Kevin Stout on June 8th, 2011
Our Rating: ★★★☆☆ :: FOR SERIOUS PLAYERS
iPad Only App - Designed for the iPad

2011 Fantasy Football Calculator & Draft Kit HD is one of the first fantasy football apps available for the 2011-12 season.

Developer: Rantek Inc.
Price: $1.99
Version Reviewed: 1.0
Device Reviewed On: iPad

iPad Integration Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
User Interface Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars
Re-use / Replay Value Rating: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Overall Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Serious fantasy football players know to get a big jump on their competition by starting their studying and research early. As a serious player and despite the lockout, I've started my preparation. Rantek Inc. seems to be one of the first on the scene with a fantasy football preparation and draft kit app.

The most important feature of FFC 2011 (2011 Fantasy Football Calculator & Draft Kit HD) is the point calculator. The player can input point information for up to three leagues. For example, my main keeper league awards one point for every 25 passing yards. So I would enter 25/1 or just 25 in that category for that league. Once all of this point information has been entered, the player can enter the projected stats for any player and the app outputs projected points for each league.

Other features include a checklist to use on draft day to keep track of what players have gone off the board, bye weeks for each teams, team schedules, scratch paper for each checklist and each league, and a draft day soundboard.

The majority of fantasy football players go with a simple pen/pencil list and notes for draft day (even the serious players). And despite the rise of apps for literally everything, I've been the only player using iPads and iPhones on draft day in all of my leagues. The most technology anyone else has used is an Excel sheet on a laptop or a printed out Word document. While I wanted an app that shouldered the load a little more as a draft kit (like an editable list of players and a database of players to work with and add notes to), the app focuses on more of that pen/pencil feel. I actually contacted the developers about the app and that's what their intention was,

Our app is structured the way you would prepare with paper and pencil (the old fashioned way), except you can capture it in your iPad. I know other apps are more automated, but this was the best we could do and there’s something about typing in the numbers that helps you get a better feel for the players and what they can do.

As for problems with the app, I noticed a bit of a bug. A few times, when I closed up the app (actually closed by x-ing out in the multitasking bar) all of my information was deleted (all notes and information entered for each league). I made the developers aware of this and they’ve informed me that a fix has been submitted. They also promise an iPhone version (minus the checklist) available soon.

I'll definitely be using the app in preparation for my drafts, but I'll likely use something else as the app I use during the draft itself. As a hardcore player of fantasy football, I keep track of more information than the app allows me to input.
