Exciting times dinosaur fans! Jurassic Park has hit iPad 2s! Not literally obviously as no one would like a T-Rex to crush their beloved gadget. No, I’m talking about Jurassic Park: The Game, hotly anticipated since Telltale Games announced it earlier in the year.

Maximizing the processing power of the iPad 2, Jurassic Park: The Game promises breath-taking cinematic scenes and some darn impressive graphics. Players will be taken back to Isla Nublar during the events of the first Jurassic Park film and be able to interact with the storyline in a brand new way. While many locations will be familiar to fans, there will also be plenty of new areas to explore as we discussed earlier this week.

Jurassic Park: The Game also comes with AirPlay functionality so that players can see the action on their Apple TVs for even more impressive visuals.

Jurassic Park: The Game is out now for the iPad 2 priced at $6.99.

IntoNow from Yahoo! functions on the premise that watching television should be a communal experience. The app, in part, is like having SoundHound for TV. When launched, it listens to the show playing, and seeks out that specific pattern to find the specific episode being watched. Once identified, a panel opens showing how many users watched the episode, a one-line synopsis and a cast list, but only the regular cast, not guest stars.

While watching live or recorded programs, fans can chat with other users and their friends who use the service – spoiler alerts included – or check out the buzz on Twitter. For sports the app even has stats. The app is also a TV discovery tool. IntoNow's appealing GUI and the "something new" factor could really change how people watch live and recorded TV.

Despite all the grandeur of increasingly impressive graphics and in-depth storylines, sometimes all anyone wants is an addictive and testing logic game. That game could well be LinkDots.

Based upon an Ancient Egyptian puzzle and the Pharaohs’ pre-occupation with geometry, LinkDots is all about placing dots in the right place. It sounds and looks a lot like Tic Tac Toe or even Connect Four. There’s a lot more to it, however, and players will find themselves swiftly tested by the three different difficulty levels, or against their own friends thanks to the four player multiplayer. Players must think quickly while also working out the best move to succeed. It’s a great challenge.

For those looking for a new logic game to test the grey matter, LinkDots looks set to be an ideal game to play. It’s available now for the iPhone priced at $0.99 or for the same price for the iPad.

Check out the gameplay video below to see what’s involved.

Inertia: Escape Velocity is Set to Impact Soon

Everyone loves a good iOS port, right? It seems like App Store shoppers are always clamoring to have versions of their favorite PC and console games on their phones, pads and pods. I know I’m certainly no exception. Enter the original Inertia: a nifty gravity-manipulating platformer that took home the SMU Guildhall grand prize for non-commercial games back in February. The title’s creators have since joined Red Fly Studio, and will be bringing a “console gaming experience” spiritual successor of sorts to iOS and Android devices shortly.

Inertia: Escape Velocity requires players to use their wits, as well as plenty of finesse, in order to navigate each level successfully. Bouncing, gliding and floating will be essential for scooping up scrap (to repair a damaged ship, naturally) which will grant access to even more levels. Touch controls are the standard, but there’s also an option to use accelerometer to make things a bit more intense. Of course, players can opt for even more intensity (that’s “Intense x 2″ for anyone doing the math) by jumping into the “Inferno” versions of each stage.

Inertia: Escape Velocity is set to release next month, December 1st, for $1.99 (iPhone/iPod) and $2.99 (iPad). Keep a sharp eye.

A crazy racing game with some extreme obstacles and insane physics.

This little game with an interesting name, jAggy Race, is a racing game in little more than theme. This “racing” game actually has much more in common with physics games than it does with racing games. That said, speed is an important component of the jAggy Race experience. Players must navigate their way through a world of nausea inducing physics from race track to race track in a battle against a persistent count down.

Like most racing games, jAggy Race is split up into separate tracks. At least, to call them tracks is the easiest way to explain them. They don’t resemble any track seen in any other racing game by a long shot. The tracks in jAggy Race are seen from an isometric point of view, and they are essentially completely vertical. Imagine how the tracks in most racing games are laid out, flat with right and left turns and the occasional hill, bump, or incline. The tracks in jAggy Race are like one of those tracks, only rotated 90 degrees and standing on one end. However, the player’s car is still oriented the same way and drives on a razor thin edge that is only as wide as the car itself.

The challenge in this game is not to stay on the narrow track (the car automatically stays lined up on the track), it is to battle the physics pulling at the car and to guide safely around treacherous drops and jumps while avoiding things like giant saws and brick walls. The player controls the direction the car travels in, and at what speed it does so. They can also make the car jump with the tap of a finger. With some finesse, the player can use the cars speed and inertia along with some well timed jumps to keep it moving forward and avoid obstacles. This is no easy task when the track’s directions and even its gravity change in seemingly nonsensical ways. Lots of trial and error are necessary to learn the ins and outs of every track. In this way, jAggy Race becomes more about defeating the physics than beating the clock.

This is such an interesting game and the tracks are fun to drive, enigmatic as they are. While this isn’t a racing game per se, it does have the draw of trying to get around a track at ever greater speeds. The physics are a bit unpredictable at first, but this is mostly because each track is so different from the last that is seems a whole new set of physics must be at play. jAggy Race is fun but it’s certainly not for precision drivers.

Forget Skyrim, Minecraft Arrives on iPhone and iPad Tomorrow

For those living underneath a rock the past year or two, Minecraft is the uber popular indie-made computer game, for Mac and PC, that has set the gaming world on its ear while making a kajillion dollars – all while still in beta. The official non-beta version will most likely be announced this weekend at MineCon, but the big news for us here at 148Apps is the arrival tomorrow of Minecraft: Pocket Edition, also known as the end of productivity as we know it.

This pocket edition is reported to be the same as the Android version, and has also been out on the Xperia Play. The pocket version gives players all the needed blocks to craft and build and mine to their heart’s content, but does not include the survival mode made popular by the original game’s release. Other reports suggest that there will be a local multiplayer option that will allow iOS and Android users to play together.

All this is confirmed with the magic New Zealand iTunes store, which is listing the Universal app of Minecraft: Pocket Edition for iOS for about $7. Here in the US, the app should go live at midnight tomorrow. Or tonight. Whichever way you prefer to look at it.

Outdoor retailer, REI, already offers a great app in the form of REI but they’ve gone one further with the release of Augmented Reality app, Find Out NYC, launched in honor of the opening of REI’s first store in Manhattan.

Find Out NYC offers users the opportunity to explore a virtual landscape via REI adverts across New York. Six separate scenes are unlockable through exploring the city and discovering the special posters around the area. There’s more than just fun to be had here though. With each scene that the user unlocks, there’s a chance to win great outdoor equipment such as a Burton snowboard, a Novara Buzz One Bike and the grand prize of them all: a trip for two to Costa Rica.

It’s a very neat move that’s bound to encourage outdoor enthusiasts to check out Find Out NYC. The Manhattan store is set to open on December 2nd, located in the Puck Building at 303 Lafayette St. In SoHo.

Corpse Granny Review

Our Rating: ★★★★½ :: EVIL GRANDMA
iPhone App - Designed for the iPhone, compatible with the iPad

For puzzle lovers, Corpse Granny is a must have.

Developer: Bulkypix & FreshGem
Price: $.99
Version: 1.0
App Reviewed on: iPhone 4

Graphics / Sound Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
User Interface Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Gameplay Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Re-use / Replay Value Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Corpse Granny is no corpse at all. In fact, I’d say she’s more alive than most grannies – one that nobody wants to mess with. She may be old, but she is highly aggressive and comes packed with attitude (and a horde of minions). Think of those cranky grannies in the grocery store zooming around on the cart with their foot on the gas and hankering for some Metamucil. Just plain scary.

And while we might be out of the Halloween ghouls and ghost holiday, zombies are always welcomed in the gaming world and that’s why I love this game. Of course Corpse Granny goes hand-in-hand with zombies as in zombies always seem to be old so they’re bound to be someone’s grandparents. Beyond the similarities of the two, the game is a very unique physics-based puzzler and offers 45 levels of pure entertaining addiction along with three worlds, tons of zombies to obliterate and a few very difficult overlords to overcome. One very cool feature is that if the gamer doesn't like the gameplay, they can use the level editor to eradicate the undead in their own custom zombie-filled world.

The goal of the game is not complicated in that it’s simply to solve the puzzle in the least amount of time. However, solving the puzzle becomes quite challenging as the levels progress just like any game worth downloading from the app store.

As for weapons to help expedite solving the puzzle, I must say having an arsenal of fireballs (red, blue, green and purple, each one with a different power), explosive boxes, bombs, giant rocks, cannonballs and more is very useful as this game needs a lot of work to complete its puzzles. And having these devastating powers at the touch of my finger gave me a ghoulishly evil smile when I unleashed the havoc on granny and her evil minions, which inevitably helped me progress within the game.

Based on its unique physics-based puzzle gameplay along with its interesting combination of weapons, I’d say Corpse Granny is a must download and will surprise even the youngest of players.

THE aMAZEing Labyrinth Review

Our Rating: ★★★★½ :: TREASURE
iPhone App - Designed for the iPhone, compatible with the iPad

Move walls and create paths to uncover treasure.

Developer: Ravensburger Digital
Price: $3.99
Version Reviewed: 1.0
Device Reviewed On: iPod Touch 4th Gen

Graphics / Sound Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Overall Rating: 4.25 out of 5 stars

I feel slightly bad for saying this, but I've never heard of the board game Labyrinth. What makes it worse is the fact the brand has apparently sold over 13 million units over the last 25 years, so how did I miss it? Well I'm in luck, as now a version has come to the iPad/iPhone.

Titled THE aMAZEing Labyrinth, the premise of this puzzle game is easy to grasp but in reality it's difficult to master, just like a good puzzle game should be. The main 'Puzzle' mode sees the player trying to obtain pieces of treasure. Each level has a path that leads to this treasure, but it has been broken up and scattered across a grid, so it's down to the player to slot all the pieces back together in the least number of moves.

It sounds easy, but there are limitations on what can be done. Rather than just move single squares, the player has to move entire rows at once, which means that whilst one piece of the path might slot nicely into place, moving it dislodges another piece further down the line. Thinking several steps ahead is key, as moves can't be undone. Luckily when the player does go wrong, and that will happen, there is a quick restart option that will load up the level again.

There are ten 'packs' in the Puzzle mode, making up 80 levels in total. Don't expect an easy ride though, as whilst packs one and two can be blitzed fairly easily, the ante gets upped. Game Center is also supported, adding that little nudge to head back in and finish off some of the tougher challenges.

Once Puzzle mode is cleared there is a Time Duel mode to consider. This is a much faster paced affair than Puzzle mode, and sees the edge of the level surrounded by treasure. Whilst the clock is ticking the player has to quickly slot a path together to reach the highlighted piece of treasure, at which point a new piece becomes highlighted and must be reached.

The game also features comprehensive multiplayer features, for both offline and online players. Offline supports up to four players using the same device, whilst online will either set the player up with a random person, or someone on their Game Center friends list. The player can even send text chat messages during bouts!

THE aMAZEing Labyrinth is a great puzzle game, enticing the player in with a few gentle levels before hooking them entirely. Well worth a play.
