Protect Arctic regions from an attack of polar bears by means of start of penguins from a catapult. Game in style " Angry Birds ". More than 50 levels in "Campaign" and 20 levels in a new mode " Frenzy Mode ". Open achievements and unblock confidential types of penguins: a blowing up penguin, reserve the penguin and the planning penguin. Be protected new dangerous allies of polar bears - Pandas! By Stox.

I've tried to get around to as many species as possible on this blog, but it's really hard to keep up with all the smart-ass explorers that go into places like volcanos and obscure unexplored mountains and discover, like, seven thousand new species in a day. So to stem the tide, I've put together a post that covers a lot of the really dangerous new species that these Darwin-dick riders have shoved in our faces, just to get them out of the way and move onto the serious problem areas.
Mandrill, I'd like to introduce you to a concept called restraint. Here's how it works: I don't make fun of the fact that you think chewing on a twig is cool, and you refrain from looking like your mom had sex with a box of Fruit Loops and made you. Honestly, of all the ridiculously insane monkeys out there, you have to be the craziest one of all. You're a primate, Mandrill, not a fucking Care Bear.

And as if it wasn't enough that you have a Van Gogh painting on your ass, you just had to get like an all-time amazing shampoo/blow out at the local salon. HOW IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE IN THE WILD. It's so silky and planned, you are way too entirely ready for a night on the town in your rockin' unbuttoned shirt and puka shell necklace. Please stop your misguided search for a mate, wipe that shit off your face, and start eating a banana or something so other monkeys won't talk about you behind your back so much.

Blobster Review

Chillingo’s newest game offers a different kind of platforming experience.

Chillingo – the publishing powerhouse behind the hugely popular iOS hit Angry Birds – has released its latest game: Blobster.

This is a platformer, but it’s not a typical one. Gamers assume control of a blobby creature who they must manipulate from one end of the level to another. Blobster materializes out of a green pipe – yes, ala Mario – and then must make it to another green pipe on the other side of the stage to progress to the next level. Players control the blob by pressing left or right on the screen, depending on which direction they want to move in. Meanwhile, they can also sling Blobster across the screen – either up, down, left and right — with the use of the touchscreen. The controls work very well, but learning how to quickly control and navigate Blobster through the game’s many stages comes with a bit of a learning curve.

Once gamers get a hang of slinging Blobster all over the place, though, they’ll find that this is a fun platformer. Each stage is filled with different obstacles to overcome and power-ups to collect, which will help players overcome said obstacles. For example, one power-up allows Blobster to swim. Another, meanwhile, lets him sore through the air. The different power-ups add depth and variety to the game. Blobster can also collect orbs which will make him grow in size, allowing him to interact with larger objects.

All in all, there are 40 different levels spanning 4 different worlds, so for 99 cents, gamers are getting a game of generous length. The levels are usually on the shorter side, but that means the game flows quickly from one stage to the other.

While it remains to be seen if this title will enjoy the same kind of success that Angry Birds did, Blobster is an instantly enjoyable and different kind of platformer. While slinging Blobster around the game’s levels, watching him bounce all over the place, it really feels like one’s playing with a toy, rather than simply controlling another video game character. This is what makes Blobster a unique, stand-out platformer.

Paco Mania

Pac-Man has proven to be one of those ageless gaming characters that manages to somehow find success with every generation.  I don’t know whether it is the dodging of ghosts or the collecting of pellets, but it is something that has entranced me as well.  This is why Paco Mania jumps out at us as something that you should be checking out.  Touted as a 3D re-imaging of the popular franchise, players will make their way through a maze collecting random pieces of coinage.  Time to embrace your own personal “Gold Rush.”

Sunshine Cruise Lines

Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be the captain of your own ship?  In Sunshine Cruise Lines you get to do just that, while also getting a heavy dose of micromanagement themed gameplay as well.  You can set sail for any number of different exotic locations, all while enjoying an adventure on the high seas.

Galaga 30th Collection

When it comes to game franchises that just keep persevering, Galaga ranks right up there with Pac-Man.  After thirty years of seeing numerous different revivals in many different ways, shapes, and forms, this time the game ventures out on the iOS.  Featuring the four most well know iterations in the series, the title features the first game for free, with an option to purchase the other three games in app.  This is a must own for any arcade fanatic.

City of Wonder

Sid Meier created a gaming behemoth when he breathed life into the Civilization franchise eons ago.  Picking up where that series left off, City of Wonder is a free exploration into the world of city and culture crafting.  Players can harvest resources, drive scientific exploration and even construct entire metropolises.  If peace isn’t something that sounds like fun, there is even an ability to arm the civilians and let slip the dogs of war.  It is sure to soothe anyone’s inner warlord.

Frisbee® Forever

Really?!  There is such a thing as a game dedicated to a gliding hunk of processed plastic?  By the nature of the product there is no way to actually even simulate its use in any way, shape, or form, yet somehow this game exists.  Controlling a disk as it soars through a wide variety of different enviroments, there are over one hundred different stages at the player’s disposal.  Needless to say, but this is the type of game that will keep you busy for quite some time.

Surprisingly fun. And challenging.

In Hungry Chicks, players must catch worms to feed their nest full of baby chicks. The task sounds simple enough, but the game’s developer, Clickgamer.com, has made a considerable effort to stretch the concept into a full-fledged iPhone title. And it’s done a surprisingly good job at it.

At first glance, I didn’t expect much from Hungry Chicks. But as the old saying goes, looks can be deceiving – and, also, one should never judge a book by its cover.

Players tap the screen to fly the mother bird around tree branches, spikes and other obstacles. The goal is to collect all of the worms on screen and then fly back to the nest full of baby chicks. Depending on how many baby chicks wait for the mother bird in her nest, players must collect that number of worms. Later in the game, things become complicated by an added layer of depth: players will have to collect worms for different colored mother birds and different colored nests. For example, in one stage they might have to collect 3 worms for the purple nest and 2 for the orange nest. Sounds easy enough, but in practice, it’s actually quite challenging. For instance, if gamers collect too many worms with the purple bird, they won’t have enough worms left over for the other colored nests.

The game’s controls are probably not what readers would expect, but they work quite well. To navigate the mother bird, players tap to the side of her and she will fly in the opposite direction. She quickly begins to descend, though, and gamers must tap again to send her flying – or gliding, really – in whatever direction they want. Hungry Chicks quickly turns into a game of rapidly tapping the screen to keep the mother bird afloat and collecting worms, and it’s a game that requires quick thinking and precision, otherwise it’s Game Over rather quickly. As the game progresses, for example, it introduces obstacles, such as electric gates, that will fry gamers upon contact.

All together, there are 36 levels to experience, spread out across three different themed worlds: Forest, Desert and Tropical Island.

Hungry Chicks is a surprisingly fun and challenging title for iOS. It’s something that players can pick up and play even if they have only a few minutes, or something they can find themselves getting sucked into, continuing to play one level after the other. For 99 cents, gamers can’t go wrong with this one.

Jules Review

Our Rating: ★★★★½ :: HIGH ROLLER
iPhone App - Designed for the iPhone, compatible with the iPad

This game has so much charm that it would make Prince Charming look like a jerk, and rolling around its amazingly crafted environments won’t disappoint.

It’s a common nightmare. Waking up one day to find everyone you know trapped inside of wooden boxes. Alright, so maybe that isn’t a very common nightmare. Still, it would be pretty freaky. Regardless of whether anyone has actually ever woken up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat fearing a boxed future, this game is a refreshing taste of a more surreal side of gaming.

Jules is a cute, fox-like creature that awakes one day to find his family — and everyone in the world in fact — has been trapped in large crates. Jules gets around the world by twisting himself up around his trusty green ball and rolling around. He can free everyone that is trapped by rolling into the boxes that imprison them and breaking them open. The game is broken up into stages, and each stage takes place in a different everyday locale. Jules finds himself rolling through these locales and breaking boxes in places like his home, the park, the beach, and the soccer field. In his travels, Jules must also avoid the blocky minions who have busily been boxing the world’s population. If he is touched by any of these enemies, he will be boxed himself and unable to continue his rescue mission.

Players control Jules and guide him around the environments by tilting the device back and forth, much as one would roll a marble back and forth in a shoebox. One of the smartest features in this game is the ability for players to pause the game at any time and adjust the stationary state. This means that the player can position themselves in the most comfortable position for playing the game with no need to contort themselves to level their device in a particular way.

The painterly, surreal environments of this game are simply spectacular. The gameplay may not be incredibly innovative, but the visuals keep this game fresh in a way that innovative gameplay by itself couldn’t. To bring an added degree of interest to the visuals, there is a point of view built into the top down view that shifts slightly as the player tilts the device. The result is an absolutely genius faux 3D perspective that changes dynamically as the game is played. Some lifetime value is also added to the game with the inclusion of four additional gameplay modes outside of the story mode for players to explore.

For players looking for a delightful departure from the normal and mundane, this game is a must.
