Mixing shooting and match three fun? Sounds quirky doesn’t it? That’s exactly what Brick Bow is. Essentially it has the appearance of a classic like Arkanoid with arcade shooting goodness and the ever crucial Match Three side of things. It’s an interesting idea but one that works pretty well.

Available in both iPhone and iPad varieties, Brick Bow is free for the iPhone and a mere $0.99 for the iPad version. Typical elements such as a series of power ups, combo bonuses and even boss battles are on offer. There’s also the prospect of two bonus modes with Brick A Mole and Coin Wave greatly extending longevity. Plus there’s the ever challenging Endless mode as well.

Brick Bow looks set to be an ideal game to play in short bursts and priced at nothing for the iPhone version, this is an ideal time to give it a shot.

Check out the gameplay video below to see it in action.

Silent Ops Review

James Bond and Sam Fisher meet in an unholy matrimony of mediocrity.

Oh Sam Fisher, how we all miss him so. Sure, he may have have already had a Splinter Cell game hit iOS last year, but now Gameloft thinks they can go around and make a knockoff of a game that they ALREADY RELEASED! Lawsuit fodder aside, the accomplished publisher decided to take another shot at the stealth action genre, and thus Silent Ops was born. Is this a mission that is worth accepting, or is the risk greater than the reward? This review will self destruct in 3, 2, 1 … just kidding.

Donning the suit of their own personal super-spy, players can chose from three different operatives to play through the game. Every step of each mission features enough surprise to turn a certain Bond character’s brain to mush. Mainly these selections of exposition are nothing more than a buffer in between stages and objectives, but at least the creative team attempted to make things interesting.

At first glance, Silent Ops looks like a garden variety stealth action game, with the notable exception of the usually always stellar Gameloft visual presentation. Environments are varied, textures pop, and characters stand out well in the world. It is too bad that the controls and mission variety don’t share the same level of polish.

The first and most obvious issue are the stealth navigation mechanics. Where the shooting and combat systems seem both well thought out and simple to execute (no pun intended), the process of sneaking up on someone while staying in cover is clunky to say the least. This sharp contrast in ease of use leads to far more missions that should or could have been stealth showcases being turned into nothing more than a glorified shooting gallery.

We can appreciate spy action as much as the next guy, but the lack of depth and overall polish to the controls and mission variety make this a hard game to get behind. Silent Ops has several ideas that could have been great if they were focused on more thoroughly. Hopefully the development team behind this game can get another shot at a sequel eventually. There is quite a bit of promise in between the title and credits, the problem is that potential can’t justify the oversights. Hit delete on this mission before it blows up in your face.

Sliding puzzle fun galore is possible with Tomb Slider.

It doesn’t feel that long ago that the App Store was first launched and all anyone really wanted from it was a fun casual game that passed the time on their daily commute. Impressive graphics and immersive gameplay seemed like a distant dream but one that turned out to be much sooner than anticipated. Tomb Slider fits into the earlier envisioning – it won’t win prizes for revolutionary gameplay or graphics but it will keep players entertained as they travel back and forth for work.

Tomb Slider offers a classic form of puzzling: it’s a sliding game. Players have to clear a path for the hero by moving the rocks that block the exit. The rocks can’t slide through each other so it’s a frequently clever route that must be figured out by the player. Early stages might only take a few moves to complete but later levels can get pretty complex with up to 20 or so moves required. Supplied with each level is a par time along with an ideal number of moves to complete that level. How well the player keeps to these guidelines affects the number of stars that can be gained which in turn unlock new levels and hints to be used when stuck.

Offering 360 levels, there’s a lot to Tomb Slider but the variety stops very early on. Each level is the same as the last in terms of manipulations. It’s just that things get progressively more complex. That’s not a bad thing by any means but it does mean that Tomb Slider can become a little repetitive if played for great lengths of time. As a game to play in short bursts, it’s ideal though and satisfying to achieve a lot in a short amount of time. Tomb Slider won’t revolutionise but it will entertain and for a long time thanks to the plentiful supply of levels.

The brave bean curd is back with 100 new levels of Chi chasing puzzling fun.

The curd returns in 100 new levels of spike-avoiding, tofu-stretching puzzles. Remember the tofu Ninja who starred in To-Fu: The Trials of Chi? Well he's back and still trying to make his way into the pink fortune-kitty's face in this new sequel.

The little guy is nothing if not gummy and the goal is to fling him from one flat wooden surface to the next, collecting Chi energy, towards the exit – a neon-pink fortune cookie shaped like a sultry female Asian Cheshire cat – while avoiding any number of soy-destroying obstacles.

It takes several flings to get him to the fortune kitty, and it’s all about aim. The levels get increasingly difficult with metal corners to ping off of, and more daunting dangers to avoid, but they all tend to look similar – like carved wooden light-filled mazes.

New to the sequel is a special super-ping power. If a player holds To Fu in a stretch for a few seconds he becomes turbo charged and can bound through the level and break through smaller wooden planks that block his path.

The game looks a lot like the first, which is a good thing – it's gorgeous. And the soundtrack sounds like what you might hear playing in the background of a high-end sushi bar. It's an aesthetically pleasing package. And the block of goo is undeniably charming. This is a solid sequel, if not an inspired one, but it feels more like a big update than a new game.

I have one big problem with both the original and To-Fu 2. There is no way see the whole playing field while tossing the curd. It's easy to scroll around and get the lay of the land, but most of the tofu flinging is done either blindly, by memory, or by trial and error.

There is also one addition to the game that is off-putting. There are several outfits available to dress up To Fu available exclusively through in-app purchase. Since they add nothing to gameplay, and there is no way to earn them in-game, charging for them makes me feel as if monetization was put over innovation in To Fu 2.

There is no question fans of the first will welcome these new levels and appreciate the super-charged little To Fu. Those looking for a new casual physics puzzler should definitely check this out, too. Just don't expect any surprises and be sure to start in a Zen space before playing – success requires a lot of patience.

Is This Bentley The World’s Most Expensive iPad Dock?

Thank you for using rssforward.com! This service has been made possible by all our customers. Aren’t iPad docks predictable? Always looking roughly the same and not very exciting to show off to friends and family? So how about this one for a change? It’s called the Bentley Mulsanne. Oh yeah, and it’s a car.

Yup, one of the world’s most luxurious cars, the Bentley Mulsanne, has a new interior that includes two iPads in the back. Built in the UK, the interior in all costs an extra £85,000 on top of the basic price of £205,000 for the car alone. That makes the whole thing around $457,000.

It’ll be worth it to someone, though, with the iPad area including full internet access and the possibility to stream TV shows or movies to a large drop down LED screen. Each iPad also comes fully equipped with a bluetooth keyboard dock and the devices fold away into the back of the seat when not in use. It’s very cool stuff indeed with even a Mac Mini thrown in and an iPod Touch controlling the audio system for the car.

If you’ve got a spare half a million lying down the back of the sofa, this could be the ideal media solution with a neat car thrown in. Oh and mind if I come along for the ride? Thank you in advance!
