We were pretty impressed by Camera Plus Pro when it was reviewed last summer. Clearly developers, Global Delight, didn’t want to rest on their impressive laurels as version 4.0 of Camera Plus Pro, released today, promises to the bring the best out of the iPhone camera in terms of photography and performance. Some of these changes are simple such as the fact that the app is now 30x faster, others are much more complex such as the UI makeover, new capture engine and a plethora of different filters. The main thing to take from all this is that Camera Plus Pro is all the more essential a purchase for anyone keen to use the camera functionality regularly.
18 new Live Photo Filters have been added allowing users to preview photos in full screen while adding new filters and looks to the imagery. Camera effects like grid lines, touch exposure and a white balanced lock enhances this all the more. Live photo editing means that users can see just how much their photos are improved by adjusting brightness, contrast, saturation, hue, sharpness, tint and temperature quickly and easily. Distortion effects provide plenty of benefits as well.
9 Live Video Filters have been added for those creating videos with the app. The new Smooth Video Zoom functionality boosts video recording too thanks to its jerk-free promise.
With the capture engine being so much faster than before, instant saving is possible with the ability to capture 40 back-to-back photos at full resolution. Re-adjusting images, rotating or cropping photos is just as simple with one single motion doing everything.
It’s impressive stuff for an already excellent photography app. Camera Plus Pro is regularly priced at $2.99 but to celebrate the latest release, it’s priced at a mere $0.99 for the next week. An ideal time to check it out then.

To think, I’d nver heard of Bladeslinger before roughly fifteen minutes ago, but now I find myself obsessively searching for any kind of release date that’s more specific than “Q4 2011.” In my defense, I think it’s with good reason. Not to jump on the hype train, but Luma Arcade seems to have crafted a very compelling world and an awesome game to flesh it out with. Oh, and it looks freaking amazing.
I’m also curious about these abilities that Glaston will eventually gain. I’m pretty sure one can be seen in the clip (where he does the Ground Pound), but it almost looked like a one-off. Like it’s some kind of single-use item or something. Then again, maybe it can only be used once per fight. Or maybe the “card burning” effect was only used to illustrate the activation of the ability and not “using it up” as it were. Gah! Too many questions!
Game titles nowadays are often just so ambiguous. Boss Battles from Backflip Studios doesn’t muck around with any kind of ambiguity in its title. This is a shoot ‘em up that is pretty much all about the boss battles. There are eight different bosses to take on, each with different attacks and weak spots. When a boss is defeated, the player nets a bounty of gems for the conquest, which can be spent on ship upgrades such as support weapons. Repeat battles get more challenging, but also more lucrative. Defeat will come to the player often, so thankfully each boss fight begins with a wave of normal enemies that are just there for collecting gems, which go toward upgrades. The game is free to play, supported by ads and in-app purchases of additional gems. This all goes without mentioning that the protagonist is a squirrel with a commanding officer who is a bear. Why? Well, why not?
:: LIMITLESS POTENTIAL
Working much like the iPhone version, FX Photo Studio HD offers a comprehensive 194 photo effects and filters in all. They’re an impressive bunch covering a wide range of purposes. Users can add a burnt paper look to their images, brush stroke effects, pencil outlines, mirror distortions, even a rather freaky looking symmetry effect that can create two heads when dealing with photos of animals or people. A 3D effect is even possible working alongside red/blue glasses.
Whether it’s true or not, when playing Ball Towers HD, one may get the sense that they are playing an engine demo. Players are presented with graphics that are very pretty technically but also nondescript and sterile with music to match. It’s almost like “here’s this marble rolling game to quickly show off what this engine is capable before someone finds its true potential.” However, that’s all conjecture. Regardless of whether or not it deserves such flashy graphics, the actual game of Ball Towers HD is perfectly serviceable.
Blowing up robots in my spare time as a hot ginger protagonist? Please and thank you. While some my liken this physics based game back to that other physics game that rocked the iOS platforms' world and spawned several thousand video posts of the most random assortment of fandom, Babes VS Robots can definitely hold it's own. Which is important, especially when saving the world from conquering hordes of soulless robots.
