iPhone App - Designed for the iPhone, compatible with the iPad

FlickAddress is a handy app that makes organizing contacts simple and effective, but the larger-than-average price might discourage some users.

Organizing. Some people love to do it, some love it so much they’re given regular doses of medication and everyone else could stand to do it more often. Thankfully most of the apps included on any given iOS device take care of these things automatically, but sometimes they’re a little too simple. Thus, apps like FlickAddress – Manage Contacts are born.

FlickAddress is essentially an update to the default Contacts app: it looks pretty much the same (save some color-coding), it imports existing contacts automatically and it allows new ones to be added. What sets it apart is the way it allows users to color-code their custom categories and flip through each group with the flick of a finger. Flick. FlickAddress. Get it?

Not only is it easy to use, FlickAddress is also incredibly easy to figure out and set up for the first time. Categories can be added with a tap or two and contacts can be dragged into each one (or multiples) from the main group. The only way it could be easier would be for the app to anticipate the user’s needs or plug directly into their brain. We can probably expect that in an iOS 6 update.

The only caveat to it all is the price. In the grand scheme of things two dollars is hardly breaking the bank, but iOS users have gotten used to certain price points over the years. Namely one dollar or free. Asking double the expected price for what is essentially a slightly more intuitive version of the default Contacts app might scare off a few potential customers. Personally I think it’s a pittance for such a useful virtual Rolodex, but unless someone has a bunch of phone numbers to sift through they might view the cost as a deterrent. It shouldn’t be, but people will always be people.

Anyone looking for an easy way to sort their contact list can put an end to their search with this fluid, functional and very user-friendly app. As long as price isn’t an issue, or potential purchasers are being realistic with their expectations, FlickAddress will fill that disorganized void quite nicely.
