Flick Soccer is a free kick soccer game from Full Fat Games, utilizing the same flicking mechanic popularized by their Flick Golf games.

Flick Soccer is the newest sports game from Full Fat Games, where players must try to score goals from free kicks in that most international of sports: soccer! The mechanic works identically to Flick Golf, where an upward flick launches the ball, then rapid swipes in any direction can spin the ball in midair. This is very necessary in Flick Soccer, as the player will need to get the ball around defenders and goalies who will dive for balls. There are 5 modes in the game: Quick Shot, where the player has 60 seconds to score as many points as possible, but can gain extra time and additional points by hitting the moving target; Endurance mode, where there is no time limit but players have to hit the target, with only a limited number of balls; Challenge, where the player must score as many points as possible in 5 shots; Crossbar, where the player tries to hit the crossbar instead of making it into the goal; Finally, there’s Smash Hit, where they player tries to break panes of glass in the goal as quickly as possible.

Flick Soccer is fantastic when it comes to pick up and play gameplay. The modes can be played in short sessions, and there are even modes like the Challenge mode that really only take seconds to play, with 5 shots to execute per session. However, the game is easy to get addicted to; time just seems to melt away while playing it. It’s a fantastic balance that only the best games can pull off. There’s Game Center leaderboards for each mode, as well.

There’s not really much to complain about with Flick Soccer. It can be difficult to tell where the ball is going in the Crossbar mode because of the glow around the bar. The game setups do differ, but the mechanics of shot curvature are largely the same between each mode. iPad support would be a great addition, as well.

Flick Soccer is a ton of fun, easy to play, and easy to get lost in. This is definitely one of my new favorite iOS games.
