While Soccer Stealers 2012 takes place on the soccer field, it’s not exactly what most would expect from a soccer game. Soccer Stealers is an ad supported free to play game in which players take control of a squat, cartoony character dribbling a soccer ball around a soccer field. The player must move this cutesy soccer ball dribbling character around the field for as long as possible while avoiding every other player on the field. Every other player on the field is focused on stealing the soccer ball away and ending the match. The whole experience has the feel of a crazed soccer fan simulation where the fan has jumped onto the field, stolen the ball, and is running around avoiding everyone in an attempt to stall the game for as long as possible.

Players use the touchscreen to guide their character through the fray. If one of the opponents manages to bump into the player’s character the player loses control of the soccer ball and it will go bouncing across the field. If the player isn’t able to regain control of the ball or if one of the opponents gains control the match is over. To keep control of the ball there are several power-ups to increase speed or knock down opponents. During each match, the player must also collect as many coins as possible that are spread out over the field. With these coins players can buy tickets to more matches. Each match costs a certain number of coins and the player must spend the required amount of coins to buy a ticket and begin the match.

Players can also use collected coins to purchase clothing and accessories to customize their character. These items are purely cosmetic and have no effect on the gameplay, but power-ups can also be purchased to be used in game as well. If the player doesn’t want to play match after match to accumulate the amount of coins needed to purchase these items then they can purchase packages of coins via in-app purchase instead.

The Soccer Stealers gameplay is very simplistic and each match is exactly the same as the last. Run around a field, pick up coins, avoid opponents, repeat. The game has a fun look and feel, but other than the character customization there just isn’t much to keep the player engaged. This game is fun for a few minutes but quickly loses it’s momentum.
