G’s Hotdog is one of those games that’s somewhat limited by its concept. This is a game about working as a hotdog vendor. How entertaining can such a game be, really?

The good news is that as far as quality goes, this is probably one of the best hotdog vendor games out there. The goal of the game is to create customer’s orders as fast and as accurately as possible, satisfying customers, earning money and getting customers to come back for more.

The game takes place from the perspective of a fast food worker, behind the counter of a hotdog stand. To build a hotdog, you select a bun, hotdog and then tap on the toppings you want to add, such as relish, ketchup and mustard. Once you’ve built the hotdog, you select the customer that ordered it and then you get paid for it. The more accurately your hotdog matches what the customer ordered, the more money you get. The game features simple gameplay that’s easy to grasp and understand nearly right away. The challenge lies in trying to beat the clock. If you don’t, it’s all over.

The bad news is this is a game about making hotdogs, and conceptually, well, it’s just not particularly exciting. It’s kind of cute and a little admirable for an indie game, but there’s very little lasting appeal here. The game plays like a fast food simulator, and anyone who’s worked a fast food job can tell you the experience isn’t exactly “entertaining.”

The nice thing about G’s Hotdog is that it’s well-designed and functions well. Truly, this is not really a bad game so much as it is one that is features a theme and concept that just not all that exciting.
