Summer is here and there’s no time more important than to keep hydrated during. Losing track of how much to drink in any one day is all too easy. Most people would benefit from drinking 8 glasses of water a day, sometimes more depending on physical exertion, so an app like More Water sets out to keep its users informed of their water intake.

As the app is all too happy to explain, water is a fantastic way of keeping hydrated. It’s zero calories and suppresses the appetite making it ideal for those trying to lose weight. It reduces fatigue and water retention, and keeps the skin smoother. More Water encourages users to drink more by helping them keep track of everything. It’s simple to set up too, with options to either stick with the 8 glasses of water mentality or to add another figure of the user’s choosing. Then, simply tap on the glass or bottle icon to add one to the counter and see how many more drinks are needed by the end of the day. A simple graph then enables users to check to see how they’re doing on a day by day basis. From the home screen, it’s always possible to see how many drinks are required for the rest of the day which is a handy touch.

That’s pretty much all there is to it. Users can share their achievements via Facebook or Twitter, and there’s also the option to adjust between ounces, mls, liters, pints or galloons. The only real letdown is the way days are laid out. They run from midnight to midnight, which in my case isn’t actually the case with the day often ending much later than midnight. The ability to return to previous days to add drinks would have been useful in this case.

Other than that though, More Water is an ideal way of tracking water consumption. Health conscious users shouldn’t underestimate the important role of hydration and this app is a great way of ensuring that.
