ASUS Monday announced a convertible product called the Padfone, providing both tablet and smartphone functionality. The Padfone is a 4.3 inch Android smartphone that docks inside of a compartment on a 10.1 inch tablet device. The tablet features a larger screen, stereo speakers and an extended battery that charges the phone. The OS for the device lives on the phone, eliminating data transfer. No release data or partners were announced, but ASUS says consumers can expect the device for a holiday launch.

UX Series ultraportables

Powered by the latest version of the Android operating system, the Eee Pad MeMO 3D has a 7″ multi-touch screen that can also be used with the supplied stylus for note taking in portrait orientation, plus a unique glasses-free 3D display mode for entertainment on the go.

The Eee Pad MeMO 3D is designed to be an alternative take on the 10″ tablet that is fast becoming a standard size. This portrait-oriented device uses a screen that can also be used more traditionally with all Android Honeycomb applications, should users choose to do so.
